The following is the script of this Week’s Regional Report from Millstreet:

Greetings, dear Listeners, from Millstreet on this the 25th November – the Feast of St. Catherine of Alexandria who is the patroness of philosophers and preachers.    Deputising for Eily Buckley this is Regional Report No. 1244.  We hear about a visit to Carriganima by the musical Murphys who in fact will be interviewed on c103 at 8.30pm on Wednesday. We learn about success in Youghal and about the new season of LTV2 Millstreet.   The Local Lotto Prize reaches new heights….and there’s more- much more!

Widely available locally, the 2015 Millstreet Calendar is proving hugely popular as is the recently launched “Together” audio CD featuring Millstreet Community Singers.

The supremely talented “Strings” musical group will perform in Millstreet GAA Community Hall this Saturday night at 7.30.  Admission is free but one will have the opportunity to donate to Charities of the Young People’s choice if one wishes.  The Group recently performed superbly at Scartaglin Heritage Centre.  Emer Twomey is their dedicated music teacher and coordinator.  Lots more details on our Millstreet website.

LTV2 Millstreet begins its new season on Thursday, 4th December and will be available to view on the Millstreet website with a new programme uploaded on a weekly basis thanks to LTV2’s Bernard Crowley.

Millstreet CCÉ had some tremendous set dancing successes at Youghal at the weekend with the Purple and Teal under-13 Set Dancing Team winning through to Munster level and the under-11 Coral Set winning a county medal.  Well done indeed to the young marvellously talented dancers.  The Set Team names refer to the colour of the uniforms being worn.

Millstreet N.S. Parents’ Association’s annual Church gate collection takes place this coming weekend, 29th/30th November.

The An Post, Bill Power, Millstreet Stained Glass Window now famous international Christmas Stamp will be celebrated locally on Monday 1st Dec. at Millstreet Post Office.

This week’s Local Lotto reached a very attractive €15,800.00.  This week’s numbers were 21, 22, 7 and 30.   As the Jackpot was not won the 1st Prize of €100.00 went to Sinéad Carmody, Rathmore.  And the Seller’s Prize of €50.00 went to Tommy Tucker of Ballydaly.   The 2nd Prize of €50.00 went to Anna Bola, Altamont.   And €20.00 went to each of the following:  Ciarán Murphy, Kilmeedy;  Dan Kelleher c/o Wallis Arms Hotel; David & Siobhán McCaul, Liscahane; Helen & Chantelle Kelleher, Aghabullogue; Jack O’Riordan, Claramore; Marguerite Kelleher, Minor Row; Katie & Cian McCaul, Killarney Road; K. Kelleher, Ploverfield; Denis & Maura Cronin, Main Street.  Next week’s Draw for an amazing €16,000.00 (!) will be at The Bush Bar.

There will be a table quiz on Friday 28th November at 9.00 p.m. in McCarthy’s Bar, Millstreet. Teams of 3 and €30 per table. A fun night out with proceeds going to the Union Hall Lifeboat.

An important Crime Prevention Presentation will take place in Aubane Community Centre this Thursday, 27th Nov. at 8.30pm.   Excellent tips and advice will be shared by a Crime Prevention Officer from Bandon Garda Station and by Community Garda, John Crowley.

A special Mass of Remembrance, as we come to the end of November, will be offered at St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet on this Saturday at 6.30pm.  Relatives of those who died within the past year and who are remembered in the very beautiful November Garden at the end of Millstreet Church, will be given a special candle during the Mass of Remembrance.

Sapphire Signs of Rathmore have now very efficiently and creatively completed the very impressive wall fixtures at the recently renovated Millstreet Museum in the Carnegie Hall.   We are presently at the Museum Centre adding a bank of digital files on iPads where one may access images from themes from the past such as “Millstreet in the 1950s”.  We invite people to visit our Museum where “the Past becomes Present”.  Sincere thanks to Marie Twomey and Millstreet Community Council on having very kindly decided to direct funds from the sale of the 2015 Calendar towards the present significant development of Millstreet Museum and Tourist Information Centre.

The Murphys Musical Family are appearing at The Pub in Carriganima this Saturday night.

Millstreet Christmas Market takes place on the weekend of 6th and 7th Dec. in the GAA Community Hall.

Cullen & District Special Needs Association’s annual Christmas Mass and Party takes place in Cullen on Saturday, 6th Dec. beginning  just after 1.00pm.

The official opening of the wonderfully renovated Cullen Community Centre takes place on Saturday 13th Dec. at 8pm.
