First thing this morning I want to thank the ever reliable, Sean Radley for stepping in for me last week.
Our town is taking on a real Christmas atmostphere as we enter the month of December. The lovely tree in the town Square looks even lovelier this year with all the newly planted trees around it lit up as well in matching blue lights.
The tree is lovingly erected every year by polish young man whose name is Majic. And even though he is about to go back to his own country following ten years working locally, he vows to come back to Millstreet every year to erect our Christmas tree. Many thanks Majic. And every good wish for a Happy Christmas to you and Anna and little Simon.
O’Leary’s Family Butcher’s newly refurbished store is bright and colourful in the same area.
Tony of the popular Craft Burchers, always at the ready to please while across the street by our SuperValu store the popular Aroma Café has reopened just in time to greet the steady stream of Christmas shoppers and provide them with a restful cup of coffee or a sustaining meal.
At the other end of town Herlihy’s Centra store is brightly lit and at the entrance to our Town Park the Water Fountain got a Christmas facelift by way of new lighting and decorations.
This weekend our Development Group are holding their Annual Christmas Market on Saturday and Sunday December 6/7 . At the GAA Hall. With all the usual attractions. It’s the place to go to pick up lots of Christmas Gifts. Our new local calendar for 2015 and copies of our community singers first ever CD. Which are on sale at many outlets, will be on sale at the Christmas Market at the weekend.
To-night the same singers are performing at the Sandpit House.
Tomorrow night Wednesday Dec. 3rd, night all roads lead to our GAA Hall where tickets at €25 each, for the Annual Women’s Little Christmas Function will go on sale. It will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Saturday Jan. 2nd 2015. So get your ticket now to avoid disappointment. They also make ideal Christmas gifts.
Our Lighthouse in the Square are holding many craft lessons at the moment. See details on the Window.
Out in Cullen the Special Needs Association are holding their annual Mass and Christmas Party on this Saturday, December 6th .Starting with Mass at 1.30 and all are welcome.
Still with Cullen they will celebrate to re-opening of their newly refurbished Community Hall with a gala function on Saturday December 13th. Mulled wine, finger food and good music by the Kelt are on the list. And all are welcome. Adm €10.
Cullen Young at Heart, Christmas Lunch and afternoon dancing at the Riverside Hotel in Macroom on Thursday December 11th . Full details next week.

The annual 45Drive in aid of Millstreet Hospital will be held at the Green Glens Arena, by kind permission of the Duggan Family, on Sunday next Dec, 7th. Starting at 8.45 Please support it well. Our Hospital does wonderful work for our Community year after year. So please support it well.
Our local Athletic Club is doing well and this weekend we want to send every good wish to Caoimhe O’Leary and Billy Cronin, Knocknakilly who are representing Cork at the All Ireland Cross Courtry Championships in Dublin.
This Friday night Dec.5th is ”Fuel the Pub” night in Carriginma. If you bring some fuel for the fire you’ll get a free drink.
This year Santa will arrive in Carriginma by boat. Which should be both interesting and puzzling.
They have a long line of musicians lined up for the Christmas period so keep an eye out for them.
The Presentation Convent School will present their Christmas Play and Carol singing service in our local Church to-night starting at 7 and all are welcome.
Next Monday is the 8th of December, the Feast of the immaculare Conception ,is a Holy Day of Obligation. Church Services will be as for Sunday.
A huge crowd attended the rememberance Mass which was said in our Church on Saturday at which the Names of all those who died this year were called out. Our Church Choir attended.
