We now share a selection of pictures from Ansgar’s arrival by train at Millstreet Railway Station followed by his brief but very comprehensive tour of the Eurovision Venue, Millstreet Town and the Eurovision Wall at Minor Row, Drishane Estate and Millstreet Museum. Ansgar who is involved in Media Management in Germany especially praised the fact that some 23 years since the amazing event we have still preserved many reminders of the historic occasion. We thank Ansgar for honouring us with his visit. We’ve just sent the following Facebook message to him:
Ansgar – We (Noel C. Duggan, Maureen Duggan and I) were delighted to welcome you to Millstreet this afternoon. I’m presently preparing a feature for our community website www.millstreet.ie which will be uploaded within the next 15 minutes. We were hugely impressed that you made the journey from Dublin … and Germany … to view the venue of the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest. We hope that you enjoyed your brief visit. We thank you for the wonderful container of sweets from Cologne. You are a superb Ambassador for Germany. When you meet with Frank W. Albers (who visited us here in Millstreet a few years ago and who has so very kindly sent a splendid book illustrating that visit) at your next Eurovision Covention please extend our very best wishes. Do enjoy the remainder of your Irish visit and when you next visit Millstreet a longer time in the area is recommended as well as seeing the area in Summer or Autumn. Kindest regards from all in Millstreet and thank you for becoming friends on Facebook.
That’s Brilliant. I was working in Noels hardware shop this week setting up his new computer system, lovely people and Noel’s a very lively 85 year old !
I’m Mario, eurofan also and I’m going to visit Milsstreet tomorrow July 23th from Spain. I would like to see all that you visited.
Mario…I just became aware of your wish to view memorabelia re Eurovision 1993. Our Museum reopens on Tuesday at 9.30 a.m.but I note that you only have been visiting Millstreet today. On a future visit – if you give us good advance notice – we shall be delighted to share the Eurovision 1993 Experience with you. Viva Espana!
I’m in Dublin studying and I will be two weeks more but from Monday to Friday in the morning I have to attend class. I wish I could see the museum as Ansgar (German eurofan) did but I figured it would be closed on Sunday. If it is open in the afternoon, I can return to visit it.
