The Merry Month of May came in a pretty good note in spite of weather forecasts that warned of heavy rains, high winds and even the odd clap of thunder. But TG the days proved it all wrong, again. And many outdoor pursuits went ahead as planned.

The Bealtaine Fest. program continues, with something new for every day of the Month of May organised by IRD Duhallow with the co-operation of the many communities around the County. Tonight Tuesday May 3rd, all roads lead to the historic Sandpit House for and Irish Night, starting at 9.30.This lively event is open to all. Admission is free .

Wednesday May 4th there is a gala fashion show in Meelin, organised by their Active Retired Association.
This afternoon event opens with a cheese and wine reception at 2pm, followed by a fashion show and refreshments at the end. Admission is €10.

On Thursday May 4 there will be a guided tour of the source of the Blackwater. Meeting at the Trail Head at 7am.

Friday May 6th is Alzheimers Tea Day which will be held at the IRD Food Centre Restaurant starting at 11am.
It’s also Dromtarriffe Pattern Day. Mass will be said at the Holy Well at 8pm which will be followed by Music Song and Dance plus the friendly cup ‘o tae. Admission is free. Contact Mary O Sullivan for details 087 240 83 63.

On Sunday May 8th The Millstreet Retirement Group have organised a Bealtaine Tea Dance to be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel. Admission €5. Music by Peter Lane. Teas will be served plus complimentery hand massage given by members of the Kanturk Red Cross.

Also on Sunday May 8th, in honour of the Month of Our Lady ,the Lorrainne O Riordan Gospel Choir will give a recital at the Church of the Immaculate Conception Kanturk starting at 7.30.
Admission €10.

And on Monday May 9th is a workshop for beginners in Photography. Cost €50. Please register at 029 60633.

Try and keep in touch with all that is planned for the Month of May.
It is a month that brings many many visitors to our Holy Turbid Well, and the Holy Rosary will be recited there each night during the Month of May at 8.pm.
The annual Mass will be said there on Friday May 27th.

The May Issue of “Duhallow Today” is out and can be picked up free of charge in all the shops etc. in Millstreet and many places throughout North Cork. It is full of news and views and advertisments. So pick up one today.

The people of Carriganima excelled themselves last week with their 1916 commeration ceremony. And as a result they have have some striking monuments and a local booklet to remind the passers by of the great part that its people played in the fight for freedom.
They also had a musical extravaganza planned, which had to be calcelled at the last minute due to circumstances beyond their control, but the good news is that its all on for this weekend. And the mighty Crystal Swing will be there in full song on Saturday night next, May 7th. Plus our own polular Peter Lane. Please come and give them a rousing Carriganima welcome on Saturday night next. May 7th.

Recently widowed Mary Buckley held a day long fundraiser at her home in Laught on Bank Holiday Monday, in aid of the Mercy Hospital Cancer Fund. The fund is still open to facilitate people who may have been away for the Bank Holiday.

And still with fundraising I’ve a note here from Marie to say that the “Darkness to Light” annual 5mile Walk in aid of Pieta House will be held in Killarney on Saturday next at 4.15am. Bus leaving Millstreet at 2.30am. To book your seat please contact Marie 087 280 25 29. Please give them your best support.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at Corkerys Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were
21,26,28,31.and the Jackpot was not won. And for the first time in the history of the Lotto, there was no ticket in the box of the lowest number which was 21.
€100 went to Geraldine Dennehy, Ballydaly, the seller was Joan Casey and she got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Dan & Joanne, The Clara Inn. €20 each to Tim and Kathleen McCarthy, Carriganima, Peg O Keeffe, Drishane Rd.
