Well done to the Millstreet lads last night, beating a fancied Aghabullogue in an exciting match in the first round of the Intermediate Football Championship, played in Macroom. We looked well in control at the start, and were 3 points to 1 ahead after 12 minutes, but Aghabullogue with speedy forwards, and clinical finishing saw them push ahead scoring
1-3 in five minutes. We held our nerve for the rest of the first half and scored some nice points to close the gap to a point at the half. 1-6 to 0-8. The second half saw Aghabullogue gain some control in the middle and again with some good finishing started to add on more points, but aided with a slight breeze, Millstreet kicked a few long balls to our inside forwards which really troubled their full back line. That with some better ball retention and better running through the middle, Millstreet turned the screw, which cumulated in a goal by James Broxton, and in the last five minutes goals for Michael Vaughan and Tadgh Collins. Onwards and upwards. ‘hon the Sráid.
@millstreet_town well done to the lads tonight, thank you also to the large support that came from town, brilliant as always.
