A heartfelt thanks to AIB’s Carmel Hickey and her superbly dedicated Staff for recently organising a most successful Coffee Morning in aid of CART (Carriganima Area Rural Transport) and Millstreet Community Website. The very impressive total cheque of €1,021.32 was divided equally between both Voluntary Groups – each receiving bank drafts for €510.16. This financial assistance is of great benefit to both Groups in maintaining the two greatly appreciated community services operated on an entirely voluntary basis. Míle buíochas to All. Here we share images of the cheque presentation and of the actual Coffee Morning 2024. Tap on the pictures to enlarge. (S.R.)
My name is Joshua O’Sullivan, and for the past five years, I have been growing my hair for children in need, a journey that began during the unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am hoping to cut and donate over 13 inches of hair to The Little Princess Trust on the 2nd November 2024.
When the world went into lockdown, everything changed. In the face of so much uncertainty and hardship, I felt compelled to do something meaningful, something that could help others during such a difficult time. I began reflecting on the struggles faced by children who, due to illness or medical conditions, lose their hair and don’t fully understand why they look different from their peers. The thought of a child looking in the mirror, confused as to why they can’t have hair like their friends, touched me deeply. This became my motivation to help.
My journey started back in Transition Year of secondary school. It began with a simple buzz haircut, a haircut I have worn for many years, but it is something I never could have predicted would turn into such a significant endeavor. As the months turned into years, I remained committed to this cause, determined to make a tangible difference in the lives of children who might benefit from my hair donation. Over the years, my hair has grown to over 13 inches in length, now kept in a low ponytail, a symbol of my dedication to this mission.
